How we teach children to stay safe.

Online Safety at Eyke

Online safety is an important part of our PSHE and Computing curriculums. We also reinforce online safety through assemblies, discussions, themed weeks and other learning opportunities throughout the year.

We teach children how to:

  • Keep personal information private and protect their online identity.
  • Recognise inappropriate content, unsafe behaviour and potential online risks.
  • Be kind and respectful when communicating with others online.
  • Think critically about information, images and messages they encounter.
  • Understand the importance of passwords, privacy settings and asking permission before sharing content.
  • Tell a trusted adult if something online makes them feel worried, uncomfortable or unsafe.

We aim to equip children with the skills to become confident, responsible digital citizens who know where to turn for help.

Learning together

We regularly provide opportunities for children to develop their understanding of online safety. This may include assemblies, workshops, online safety weeks and activities led by staff or visiting organisations.

Our previous activities have included a Google Internet Legends assembly and a whole-school Online Safety Week, culminating in an assembly led by Key Stage 2 pupils for Key Stage 1 pupils and parents.

We continue to build on these experiences to keep online safety relevant to children's lives and the technology they use.
