Ash EYFS

Autumn 2

Parents Phonics lesson

Today the parents of Ash class came and observed a phonics lesson.

Christmas through the keyhole

Today was Ash classes' first Coach trip. We went to Christmas through the keyhole at St John's Church in Woodbridge. The children re-lived the story of the birth of Jesus through various activities. They visited Mary's house, Joseph's house, the Wisemen's house, the Shephards fields, and the stable where Jesus was born.  They also had fun crafting angels and stain glass window keyholes.

Fun in the snow

Today straight after assembly, we went onto our playground to play in the snow. Whilst outside, we wrote letters, our names and even had a snowball fight. The children compared the size of their snow balls using ‘bigger’ and ‘smaller’. A few children noticed there was half a moon showing in the sky. We discussed what half means. We then went to the sunny patch on the playground and I asked what had happened to the snow here. The children said it had melted in the sun and made a puddle. The children said that playing in the snow made them feel happy.

Maths

Today in maths we looked at how 5 and 5 make 10 altogether. Each child had a die frame and 10 counters. They placed 5 counters on one, then 5 on the next. We looked at how both the die frames equaled 10. "5 and 5 make 10 altogether."

Bronze Award Certificates

All of Ash Class have received enough stickers (reward for outstanding work and effort, attitude, and improvement) to fill their bronze chart. They received their certificates today in assembly.

Autumn 1

Village Walk

Today, Ash and Cedar have gone on a short walk around the village. This links with Ash's "Understanding Of The World Around Them." We also had a fun stop at Eyke playpark.

Rangoli Painting

Today in Ash Class, we watched a short film about Diwali. The children then took turns in Painting our own Rangoli, they used there fine motor skills to ensure that they didn't go over the lines and keep it nice and neat.

Young Minds Non-Uniform Day

Today at eyke primary, it was mental health awareness day. All the children came dressed in yellow to help fundraise for young minds

Africa

Today we discussed the seven continents because our new book in English is set in Ghana, Africa. Ethan was born in South Africa and explained to the class what animals you might see. He also introduced the class to the word 'equator' and we discussed what this means.

TTRockstars Dress Down Day

Today, Ash class came in dressed as rock stars. We have had a wonderful day full of rock star spirit!
