Spirituality and Reflection

Repect, Creativity and Perseverance

Summer Term

Willow class had a visit from a local Humanist who talked to them all about her beliefs and how she sees the world. They had the opportunity to ask lots of questions and reflect on how this world view compares to what they believe.

This term we have spent a longer period looking at one of our school values, Respect.

Collective worship held an assembly all about 'Respecting our Global Neighbours' and talked about the project they have been working on to have our school toilets 'twinned' with a toilet in a country in Uganda.

Here are some pictures of our 'reflection area' that collective worship committee have recently been part of opening and running. The area gives anyone in school a place to reflect on or pray for events that are happening in their lives or in the world around them.

Spring 2

This term we spent time in collective worship looking at bible stories about forgiveness. The children thought of lots of examples showing how they have shown forgiveness both at home or at school. They also decided on ways in which they could show better forgiveness in the future.

Spring 1

The collective worship team led a session about courage using the story of 'The Selfish Crocodile'.

Spring has Sprung!

Autumn Term 2

This term our school value is 'compassion' which we reflect on during collective worship. The children try to take what they have learnt and apply the value in their every day lives.

This is our collective worship committee taking an assembly based on Generosity. They used the well known story 'Rainbow Fish' to demonstrate the act of giving generously to others. The whole school spent time listening to worship music and reflecting on how they can practice generosity in their own lives.

At Eyke we have a dedicated collective worship commitee who help look after our special 'Reflection Area'. This area gives the children an opportunity to reflect on spiritual teaching, the world around them or events in their personal lives. They also plan and hold regular whole school collective worship sessions that teach the children how to love others and be better global citizens.
