  • Hilltop Super Sunday!

    Sun 09 Jul 2017

    And so for Super Sunday.

This morning started with the traditional Hilltop three course breakfast to set us up for the day and then on to our first activities. Group 2 headed for the Big Zipper, where Mrs Butcher discovered why we always come back. Meanwhile it was High Ropes for group 1. The children had the opportunity to attempt several different challenges including the wobbly log, the trapeze and the high wire before those who wanted to, climbed the "all aboard" post in the middle. It was brilliant to see the children working together to support each other and challenging themselves try take another step forward.

After pizza and homemade cookies for lunch, it was off to the beach at West Runton, where we spent the afternoon rock pooling. Amongst the many periwinkles and crabs, we also found some anemones and even a couple of jellyfish. Once we had returned all the creatures to their homes it was back in time for dinner. After dinner we had a game of Mad Hatters in the forest. The aim of the game is to avoid getting caught by the "Mad Hatter." Once caught, the children had to grab a hat and join the chasing group. Lots of fun was had by all, with very few bumps or bruises!!! Then it was time for souvenir shopping and packing ready for the morning so that the rooms are ready for the next group. Finally story time, hot chocolate and then bed.

Home time tomorrow after an amazing weekend.

  • Hilltop Saturday

    Sat 08 Jul 2017

    Day two just flew!

After a successful nights sleep, the children were all up and dressed by 7am and then in for an 8 o'clock breakfast of cereal, toast and scrambled eggs with bacon and waffles. In the morning Group 2 did the crate stacking and archery whilst Group 1 successfully got their fires going in the bush craft activity despite the rather heavy downpour overnight. We were then more than ready for lunch.

Then out again for our afternoon activities. Group 2 headed for the climbing wall and Mrs Butcher and Mrs Mayhew were extremely impressed with how supportive the children were, encouraging to each other to push themselves to achieve their best. Meanwhile Group 1 had their turn on the Big Zipper - Mrs Cutting's favourite. They worked together so well that everybody got two flights before setting off for the Activity Trail and Assault Course, where the children got incredibly wet and muddy! Luckily there was time for a quick swim before dinner.

In the evening we had a hike down to Sheringham, to the beach, where the children built stone castles or played "jumping out of the way of the waves to avoid getting soaked" game. Then there was time for an ice-cream before the walk back, followed by story-time in the dark and hot chocolate and bed.

    Another great day.

  • All had a good night's sleep at Hilltop Activity Centre....now it's time to enjoy a full day!!!!

    Sat 08 Jul 2017

Brilliant first day. After a successful journey up thanks to Mr Buckland, we had a tour around the site to see some of the activities that we will do. Then we sorted our rooms and had our lunch. Following that we split into our two groups.

Group 1 headed off to archery and crate stacking - where they learnt how to use the ropes and harnesses and to belay. It was lovely to see the support that the children gave each other to build up and climb the tower in order to ring the bell. Meanwhile Group 2 went into the forest area to learn some bush craft which included building their own fires to cook marshmallows and hot chocolate, and shelter building - the leaders were very impressed and even commented that some of the shelters were the best they had ever soon. we then all had a swim.

After dinner we headed out for a field game - which was great fun - and finally a walk to tire everyone out! Now the children are all in bed and hopefully thinking about sleep.
